Join the UT Geography Society and the Department of Geography and the Environment in celebrating Geography Awareness Week (GeoWeek) 2014.
This year’s theme is “The Future of Food.” Food is inherently geographic, not only as a powerful insight into a culture’s unique identity and traditions, but also in its ability to help us understand a myriad of issues including landscape, climate/climate change, sustainability, and inequality, among other topics.
The Real Food Media Project (http://realfoodmedia.org) is a collaborative initiative using online movies and a web-based action center along with grassroots events around the country to spread the stories of sustainable food and farming. We will slect short films from the Real Food Media Library to screen, and will discuss issues around food, agriculture, and sustainability in geography with Dr Gregory Knapp.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information, email madelineenos@austin.utexas.edu.
