The Barstow Speaker Series provides a forum for thought leaders and business and community stakeholders to engage in a dynamic dialog on the health and wellness of the Texas Colorado River. This Barstow September 2014 event will be the next installment of the Series, aiming to highlight proposed strategies that could mitigate strain on the Colorado River. While the Colorado River system is struggling to support increased demand, user groups up and downstream depend on it for their economy and livelihood. Water conservation is simply not enough to bring balance to this supply and demand challenge or to overcome strain on the Colorado. By exploring solutions to this challenge that include alternative water sources, direct reuse, aquifer storage and construction of off-channel reservoirs, this Barstow panel will reveal to community stakeholders the while challenges persist, our leaders are dedicated to finding a balance for both the River, and the communities that depend on it.

The distinguished panel will include Ed Archuleta, former manager of the El Paso Water Utilities Public Service Board and current Director, Water Initiatives at the University of Texas at El Paso; Phil Wilson, General Manager, Lower Colorado River Authority; Kent Satterwhite, General Manager, Canadian River Municipal Water Authority; and John Grant, General Manager, Colorado River Municipal Water District. The Series will be moderated by Joe Beal, of Beal Consulting, and former Lower Colorado River Authority General Manager.
