If you like the idea of seeing as many different species of birds as possible within a county, join Jean Martin for a long day trip in San Saba County. We’ll depart from a northwest Austin location at 6am and return to that location about 6pm, so we’ll have a full day of birding. Among the places we’ll visit are Colorado Bend State Park, one or two parks in San Saba, and several lesser known places where Jimma Byrd, a San Saba County birder, will help guide our group. We expect to see many species of year round and summer residents that have recently returned to the area to breed, as well as some late migrants. Among our target species will be Zone-tailed Hawk, Black-capped Vireo, and Golden-cheeked Warbler. After you register for the trip, you will receive details about our early morning meeting place.
