“Shades of Green” Environmental Talk Radio on KOOP 91.7 FM (Texas Water Wars: Eminent Domain for Profit & Gain)

November 22 @ 6:48 pm

After Prop. 6 passed by Texas voters in 2013, the wars for water have begun. Our guest will be Linda Curtis of Independent Texans who held citizen meetings in 11 cities across the state to educate the public and get feedback on water companies and developers using eminent domain practices to hoard land for water pipeline distribution systems.

Linda Curtis and Independent Texans is currently focused on helping to build a cross-partisan coalition calling the question on the plan to bring the Keystone XL pipeline (owned by TransCanada) and two other tar sands pipelines (Seaway, owned by Enbridge and the Pegasus, owned by Exxon) through east Texas to Houston refineries and over a number of critical water ways, including the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer that serves 10-12 million people.  The organization is also focused on a variety of questions related to water and drought and the growing need for a comprehensive water conservation plan for Texas developed by ordinary Texans; rural, suburban and urban.
