Due to the popularity of bird walks in Commons Ford Park, and the increased bird diversity and density after the first stage of the prairie restoration there, we are offering monthly birding trips to Commons Ford Park. Each trip will be led by a knowledgeable and experienced local birder. We have notched over 220 species in the park, and the varied habitat always offers the opportunity for a surprise or two. Participants will be given the opportunity to make a donation toward further restoration of the prairie. Don't miss the opportunity to be a part of this exciting and beneficial project!

Deb and Lee Wallace will lead the trip from 7undefined11:30 on October 20. Registration is required and participation is limited to 15 participants. These trips are always full, so please register early. For questions, or to be put on a waiting list if trip is full, please contact Deb at apeld@austin.rr.com. Full details will be provided to registrants, the week before the scheduled walk.

If you have not been to the park lately, you should check it out for yourself. In October, the prairie grasses should be blooming, as well as many of our beautiful fall wildflowers. In addition to any fall migrants, we should have the resident birds, and possibly even a few early wintering birds. For more information on the restoration, please visit www.commonsfordpro.blogspot.com. To make a tax-free donation to this important project, please click on the following link: Donate here!

Commons Ford Ranch is located only a few miles west of the intersection of Bee Caves Rd. and Loop 360. Specific directions and further details will be provided to confirmed participants. There will be extensive walking but mostly on level ground. Bring water and snacks to make it through a full morning, and dress appropriately for the weather, including sturdy, close-toed shoes.
