New Crestview/Highland Urban Trail, Three Bike Metro Rack, and Bike Share!

Capital Metro and the City of New Urban trail connects Highland/Crestview Metro StationsAustin rolled out (pun intended) the new Crestview/Highland urban trail that connects transit hubs, businesses and the forthcoming ACC Highland campus.
The trail is a .9 mile, 10-foot wide concrete pathway for bicyclists/pedestrians that runs along the MetroRail Red Line in City of Austin right-of-way, connects Crestview and Highland MetroRail stations, and continues south of Highland Station to Denson. The landscaping includes 144 trees donated by Austin Energy that will provide shade and a physical barrier between busy Airport Blvd. and the trail. The trail construction was funded by an American Recovery & Reinvestment Act stimulus grant awarded to Capital Metro.

New CapMetro bus racks can hold three bikes!

At the grand opening last Friday I also got to check out the B Cycle bike sharing bikes as well as the Cap Metro bus bike racks that can hold three bikes!

 

 

B Cycle Bike Sharing is coming to Austin. Where do you want stations?

Bike Sharing is coming to Austin and the City of Austin’s Public Works Department and local non-profit Bike Share of Austin are requesting input from the public to identify bike share locations throughout the city until the end of August.
