Urban Roots Youth Farm Interns, ages 14 – 17, will join the Qui team on the Urban Roots farm on June 21st to select produce for the event. Urban Roots Youth Interns will then work with the Qui team to prepare a meal featuring fresh produce grown and harvested from the Urban Roots Farm.
Mr. Qui has been a long-time supporter of Urban Roots, beginning a relationship with Urban Roots in 2011 as a chef for the annual Tour de Farm event at the Urban Roots Farm. With Qui Restaurant scheduled to open on June 20, this event provides a unique opportunity to support Urban Roots while also getting an early look at the much-anticipated restaurant.
A little bit about Chef Paul Qui and his eponymous restaurant: Paul Qui is the winner of Top Chef and the James Beard Award. His food trucks, East Side King, reveal his culinary creativity inspired by his food experiences during global travels and by the food culture right here in Austin, TX. At his new restaurant we can expect to see Mr. Qui's training at Uchi and Uchiko coming together with his appreciation of art and design as the inspiration for a unique menu highlighting seasonal and local ingredients.
