September 30 @ 7:29 am

Basic Info

Date:
September 30, 2024
Time:
7:29 am

Save the date! WEDNESDAY, May 1st, everyone is invited to the second of three working sessions about updating Austin's urban farm code. We (Sustainable Food Policy Board & YOU) will be discussing the following topics:

1. Site Requirements – what kinds of requirements should urban farms meet to be in harmony with different types of zones (single-family, multi-family, commercial, etc)?

2. Commerce – what kinds of things should farmers be able to sell from their farm and how often?

3. Labor – how many employees should urban farms have, can they live on site, and other questions.

Please join us at the meeting room at Fiesta Gardens, at 2101 Jesse E. Segovia St right near Lady Bird Lake, from 5pm-7pm. If you have questions, concerns, or want more information, please contact me Heather Frambach (heather.frambach@austintexas.gov) or Katherine Avalos Nicely (katherine.nicely@gmail.com).

This session is hosted by the the "Urban Farms – Process and Code Coordination" working group of the Austin/Travis County Sustainable Food Policy Board. The working group was formed to update the City of Austin's urban farm code to improve upon existing code in a way that meets the needs of communities, farmers, and regulators in the interest of a healthy, safe, sustainable, and just food system for all of Austin.
