Over the past seven months, Austin Energy customers have purchased more than 100,000 LED lightbulbs, saving more than 3.1 million kilowatt-hours(kWh) of electricity. That’s the equivalent of powering 260 average-size homes year-round. This big boost in LED purchases was made possible by an Austin Energy discount offered on LED bulbs at several major retailers around town. LED bulbs use up to 90 percent less energy and last 10 to 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs, saving energy and money.
