SUMMARY:Shoal Creek Bike Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join Shoal Creek Conservancy and MetroBike for a beginner-friendly bike ride along the Shoal Creek Trail and the Shoal Creek Blvd protected bikeway on June 10th from 7:30 am – 9:30 am. This will be a perfect opportunity to learn more about the City of Austin’s growing network of alternative transportation routes and the Shoal Creek watershed!\n \nParticipants are welcome to bring their own bike if preferred\, but this is not required. MetroBike is generously covering the rental costs of e-bikes for all tour registrants. A helmet is strongly encouraged but will not be provided by MetroBike or SCC\, so please bring one to ensure the ride is fun and safe! The bike route will have some changes in elevation\, is almost entirely on paved surfaces\, and is ~ 10 miles long with several stops for discussions and water breaks.\n \nPlease be sure to wear a mask\, bring water\, and snacks if needed. All ages are welcome\, with supervision\, but please be advised that MetroBike’s e-bikes are adult-sized.\n \nInterested? Register here.

DESCRIPTION:From TreeFolks –\nCome plant trees with the Treefolks along Shoal Creek in Allendale this Saturday. \nReady\, Set\, Plant! is a partnership between the City of Austin Forestry Division\, City of Austin Watershed Protection and TreeFolks\, Inc. to plant small saplings. This event will help to restore native tree and shrub diversity and reduce water runoff and improve water quality in Austin’s creeks. \nWe will talk a little about the site’s history\, discuss the role of the urban forest\, learn about riparian ecosystems\, and explain how these plantings will help the waterways of Austin thrive. \nYou should wear long pants and closed toe shoes as we will be working in areas with tall vegetation along the creek. Bring a water bottle and dress appropriately for the weather.  Water\, coffee\, light refreshments\, gloves and tools will be provided. \nRegister here and choose from any of our upcoming tree planting events.
