Complete our survey and receive a free coffee mug or a historic map! \nWe will offer light refreshments.  \nAustin Archives and You: Preserving City & Community Histories\nThis year we are celebrating the Austin History Center’s re-opening in the John Henry Faulk Building located at 800 Guadalupe St. as well as the 25 year anniversary of our Community Archives Program. In honor of these milestones\, we are rolling out the Austin Archives & You: Preserving City & Community Histories community engagement campaign. This summer we are conducting public meetings\, workshops\, attending tabling events\, and collecting surveys to help shape the future of our programs\, exhibits\, and spaces. Our work is rooted in community and we’d love to hear your opinions and do what we can to meet your needs! \nAt the end of this community engagement campaign\, we will share out the results of our efforts in a celebratory event held at our new space in the John Henry Faulk Building. Although it will take time\, our goal is to implement changes to our programs\, exhibits\, and spaces based on feedback received at our workshops and from survey results beginning in Fiscal Year 2026.

DESCRIPTION:What’s a Fix-It Clinic?\nIs there a fallen hem in your favorite shirt? Did your blender stop working? Is your child’s toy a little worse for the wear? Bring these items and more to a local Fix-It Clinic to learn how to fix your broken items from skilled volunteer coaches — for free! \nWhile we can’t guarantee your item will be fixed\, coaches will guide you through how the item works and what you may need for repair. Attendees are expected to actively participate and stay with their items during the repair process. \nCan’t make it to the clinic? \nDrop off your broken item at the Cepeda Branch Library (651 N Pleasant Valley Rd)\, September 6-12\, and our volunteers will try to fix it for you. Then you can pick it up from the Cepeda Branch\, September 16-21. We cannot guarantee that your item will be fixed\, and items not picked up by closing time on September 21 will be donated. This program is first-come\, first-served\, and there are a limited number of drop-off slots available. A signed waiver is required to participate. No bikes or oversized items. \nIf you plan to drop off an item\, you do not need to reserve a ticket on EventBrite. \nWhat should I bring? \nYour broken item(s) and a desire to improve your repair skills! You may bring up to two items. Sewing machines and other tools will be available for you to use\, but you can also bring your own machines and tools if you prefer. Please bring any replacement part\, missing button\, fabric patch\, matching thread or other material you might need to help you fix your item. \nAt this Fix-It Clinic\, you can learn how to fix almost anything! Including: \n\nClothing\nJewelry\nAccessories\nToys\nSmall Appliances\nElectronics\nBikes\n\nWho can attend? \nAll ages are welcome\, but children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Fix-It Clinics are a great learning opportunity for children ages 7 and up! \nHow do I sign up? \nClick here to reserve up to two tickets based on your broken item and arrival time. One ticket = one item. If you plan on bringing two items\, your tickets must be in different time blocks\, for example one ticket from 11 a.m. to noon and a second from noon to 1 p.m.

DESCRIPTION:From Austin Resource Recovery –\nDoes a mysterious glitch have your electronic device or small appliance out of commission? Bring it to the Fixit Clinic where volunteer coaches with repair know-how will be available to help you fix your item. \nFixit Clinics are all about do-it-together\, hands-on disassembly\, troubleshooting and learning to repair. Fixit clinic attendees are expected to be active participants in trying to fix their items with guidance from our coaches. Attendees should plan to stay and fix their items. Dropping off of items for repair will not be permitted. \nPlease RSVP to help us plan. Walk-ins also welcome\, however\, assistance is on a first come first serve basis.
