SUMMARY:Seaholm Ice Cream Social
DESCRIPTION:From the Austin Parks Foundation and the Trail Foundation –\nJoin Austin Parks Foundation and The Trail Foundation to explore the potential plans for the historic Seaholm Intake Facility over FREE Lick Ice Cream. The goal for this revamp is to create an open and flexible space that can be used any day by the public and periodically for events\, including improvements such as: flexible lawn space\, multiple water access points\, trail restorations and an amphitheater. \nFree Lick Ice Cream will be offered on a first come\, first served basis\, so come out early to beat the heat and the lines! \nAbout the site:\nThe Seaholm Intake facility is an iconic Art Deco design and once was the pump house for the Seaholm Power Plant. The Seaholm Power Plant represents a strong civic presence in the cityscape of downtown Austin and showcases a unique period of American Art Deco municipal architecture and Public Works engineering. Seaholm operated as a power plant until 1989. In 1996\, Austin City Council authorized the decommissioning of the plant and all the associated buildings\, in preparation for future adaptive re-use. The Seaholm Intake Facility is located on the banks of Lady Bird Lake and the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail. (seaholmwaterfront.org)

The event will take place on Saturday\, December 2\, from 9am to 11am at the Seaholm Intake Structure\, 801 W. Participants are encouraged to use public transportation\, but a parking garage is located at the Austin Central Library across the street. \nThe presentation material will also be available through the website and community members can provide feedback and responses online through December 17. The planning team will review and incorporate feedback from the community and finalize the recommendations. The Seaholm Waterfront Programming and Implementation Study will then be presented to city boards\, commissions and council in early 2018. \nFor more information or to sign-up for updates on the project\, please visit www.seaholmwaterfront.org.
