They will also learn what it means to garden organically\, sunlight and soil needs of vegetable gardens\, and you work together to weed\, amend and plant one of the beds in SFC’s Teaching Garden.\n\nClass 2: Day two is devoted to composting and to organic pest and disease management. We begin with a bug hunt then continue with a discussion of environmentally-friendly ways to control pests and diseases\, as-well-as different composting systems and a hands-on activity. Participants will also learn all about watering\, from the basics of watering seeds and transplants to water conservation.\n\nParticipants also take home a 45-page manual produced by SFC and designed specifically for Central Texas food growers.\n\n-Class participants must be 16 and older. Youth ages 12-15 may attend with purchase of an additional ticket and close parent/guardian supervision during class.\n-Registration closes 48 hours before class.
