SUMMARY:Interfaces Zine Release Party
DESCRIPTION:Join Interfaces for the release of our first ever zine! We’ll have performances\, words from our beneficiaries\, and more exclusive announcements\n \n\nRegister here (REQUIRED): bit.ly/zineparty1\n \n5 long months ago\, we saw the Austin community come to life with conversations on incarceration\, policing\, and reimagining public safety. In response\, and because we exist to elevate marginalized artists\, we decided to embark on creating an artistic and historical document to both give back to organizations doing The Work locally and chronicle ATX attitudes on what we know as the carceral state. To our surprise\, we got MANY submissions and have the honor of having 52 pages of rich and unbelievably good art and educational resources. We’re now ready to share that with the world\, and we hope to share it with you\n \n\nDuring our release party\, we will feature performances from our zine features\, hear special speeches from our beneficiaries\, and unveil some of Interfaces’ plans for 2021.\n \n\nJoin us if you can!\n[accessibility statement: ASL interpretation and English captioning will be available at this event. If you need any additional access needs\, please email atxinterfaces@gmail.com at least 48 hours ahead of the event. We exist to make art spaces for anyone and are happy to accommodate any needs for our community.]

SUMMARY:Interfaces: Artists On Series (Panel)
DESCRIPTION:Join Interfaces’ first Artists On: Series cohort for a panel on how climate change and sustainability informs their artistic practice! Each artist will also share a piece of their work. Use this zoom link to watch. \nABOUT ARTISTS ON: Similar to the short-lived New York Times series\, artists on will feature Austin-area artists teaching\, performing\, and talking about big topics that our society deals with every day. There is no way to extrapolate artistry from political and historical context\, and we both recognize\, and champion artists that are working within the intersections of social justice & art. We are kicking off this series in efforts to bring FREE arts education from local artists with historically marginalized backgrounds to the Austin-area. It is important that we #teachlivingartists\, and that we drive home one point: education is for EVERYONE. We are proud that our first Artists On is in partnership with the City of Austin’s Office of Sustainability & Cultural Arts Division of the City of Austin Economic Development Department.
