In Austin\, Forklift is partnering with the Watershed Protection Department and residents of the Onion Creek watershed to present The Way of Water: Onion Creek.\n \n\nAudience members will begin with an immersive audio walk and then witness a performance on a restored urban floodplain. The dance will feature municipal workers and community members who steward the watershed. Directed by Allison Orr and Krissie Marty. Production Design by Stephen Pruitt. DESCRIPTION:Forklift Danceworks will present The Way of Water: Waller Creek on November 17 at 7pm and November 18 & 19 at 7pm & 9pm at the Waller Creek Tunnel Inlet Facility at Waterloo Greenway. Set to live original music and with dramatic lighting\, the spectacular performance will explore the way water moves through Downtown Austin\, and what it means for our community. Tickets can be reserved online.\n \n“The Way of Water: Waller Creek will gather more than two thousand people to see this urban waterway and the massive Tunnel Inlet Facility like never before\,” said Krissie Marty\, Forklift Associate Artistic and Community Collaborations Director. “Audiences will experience beauty in the movement of work\, and the awe-inspiring human efforts\, engineering\, and innovations that support and confront the power of nature. We are grateful to our partners at Waterloo Greenway for inviting us to present this performance during their annual Creek Show\, which brings art to the water.”\n \nThe performance will feature the movement and stories of approximately twenty five employees of Watershed Protection Department. Workers across the department from the Lake Crew\, who keep Lady Bird Lake clean\, to environmental scientists on the Applied Watershed Research team\, will perform in The Way of Water: Waller Creek\, showing the breadth of their work. The forty-five minute dance will also feature more than fifteen vehicles including a forklift. And a live musical score by Austin composer Graham Reynolds will meld a pastoral string quartet with digital mechanistic sounds.\n  \nThe Way of Water: Waller Creek is the first performance in a multi-year collaboration between Forklift Danceworks and Austin’s Watershed Protection Department\, which works to reduce the impact of flooding\, erosion\, and water pollution in the community. Additionally\, Watershed Protection staff work to protect Austin’s beloved creeks\, lakes\, and springs. This is Forklift’s seventh partnership with a City of Austin department.

The performance is co-directed by Artistic Director Allison Orr and Associate Choreographer Krissie Marty with an original musical score by Graham Reynolds and production design by Stephen Pruitt. \nDove Springs Swims will be presented at 8:30 on July 12\, 13\, 14\, and 15 at Dove Springs Pool\, located at 5701 Ainez Dr.\, Austin\, TX 78744\, with pre-show entertainment by Cecilia + the Broken Hearts and Tiarra Girls on the 14th and 15th at 7:30. Incorporating facilities\, dance\, motion and history while at the same time engaging the community and staff through collaboration\, is truly a gift Allison freely shares with anyone who wants to view the performance.
