Join us for live music and festivities as we celebrate the inaugural tree planting of our 2 acre expansion. \nOur forest garden has been growing for 9 years and is now a thriving ¾ acre of outdoor community learning and gathering space. This year we began our phase 2 expansion onto the remaining 2+ acres of adjacent parkland and we are excited to celebrate and share in this tree planting with you all. \nIn addition to planting trees\, we will plant pollinator attractors and seed wildflowers in our meadow. \nJoin an educational workshop with our partners Central Texas Mycological Society or a guided plant walk through the forest. \nEast Austin community leader and D3 Council Member José Velásquez will speak to our community about the importance of food producing public parkland spaces in East Austin. \nJesús García of The Herbal Action project will lead a tree meditation before the tree planting ceremony. \nCome celebrate with us and learn about the various trees and plants growing together to create a diverse ecosystem. Our guides will discuss the regenerative practices that help us build healthy soil\, capture water\, sequester CO2\, and create the conditions for life to thrive.

DESCRIPTION:The Festival Beach Food Forest and Finding Our Voice are teaming up to offer a Saturday AM plant walk and song circle to welcome the month of April. The plant walk begins at 9am\, followed by tea and snacks at 10:30.\n\n \nSong circle will be begin at 11am and run for about an hour. All voices are welcome. We’ll be singing to the earth\, the plants\, to one another\, and to our tender\, thirsty souls. Have a song you’d like to share? Bring it along. SUMMARY:Festival Beach Community Forest Fest
DESCRIPTION:From the Festival Beach Food Forest –\nIn addition to the monthly plant identification walk at the food forest\, we are planning a really special event for the first-Saturday of December: a Community Harvest Fest! \nMake plans to come out and celebrate the abundance of community and the abundance of the food forest. \nWHEN: Saturday\, December 1st\, from 9 pm to 2 pm. \nWHAT: a community gathering full of education\, nourishment\, and celebration. Here’s a preview of the day: \n\n9 am – Enjoy a tour of the food forest Karen Luzius. Karen is a plant-lover\, herbalist\, and permaculture gardener. This tour will teach you where to find various plants in the food forest\, and about their medicinal and edible properties. \n10 am – Tea and snacks\, herb harvesting and bundling\, a community seed exchange\, relaxing at the food forest \n11:30 am – 2 pm – Community Potluck\, relaxing at the food forest \nWHAT TO BRING: whatever you have on hand! here are some recommendations – \n– a lawn chair\, ground cushion\, or picnic blanket\n– something for the community potluck\n– herb cuttings &/or seeds to share\n– bags or containers to take herbs\, seeds\, food\, etc. home with you\n– drinks or a cup/water bottle (no glass bottles)\n– musical instruments\, games\, kites\, etc.

SUMMARY:Food Forest Design Expo and Community Potluck
DESCRIPTION:From the Festival Beach Food Forest –\nJoin us for an evening of food\, community\, and visionary conversation about the design and growth of the Festival Beach Food Forest. \nWe are blessed to have two landscape engineering interns for the food forest this summer\, who are visiting us from France – Estelle and Anthony. They are focused on a number of design questions for improving the first phase of the food forest and have created a community survey to get your input on what you would like to see: https://goo.gl/forms/JitUgQHbFka3ETmx2 \nAt this evening potluck on August 5th\, Anthony and Estelle will display their design concepts (incorporating feedback from the survey linked above) and will continue to gather input about how to best improve the Festival Beach Food Forest to serve the community. \nWhether or not you can prepare a dish for the potluck\, please join us! We trust that there will be plenty of food and drinks to go around. Please no glass drink containers.
