Working with acrylic and spray paint\, I create custom murals and paintings that blend bold colors with dynamic compositions. I’m best known for my unique approach to painting cacti—capturing their resilience and character in a style that’s distinctly my own. Through my work\, I aim to transform spaces and spark a connection between art and the environment. \nAbout Ki: \nI am affectionately known as Ki. I am a stylist\, tailor and designer. I feel pride especially serving those who identify as gender diverse\, non-binary\, gender-fluid\, gender-nonconforming and/or LGBTQ+. My portfolio includes everything from custom designed wedding garb\, to sourcing and upcycling vintage threads and tailoring ready-to-wear clothing to fit the unique needs and bodies of queer folks. I have the privilege of prioritizing folks who have historically been underserved in this area. I pride myself on helping other queer and gender non-conforming folks feel comfortable\, confident and unapologetic in their clothing and subsequently their bodies. First I had to learn to do this for myself and that’s how SwankKi was born. I am inspired by pioneers like Dapper Dan. I envision a future where SwankKi Tailor & Threads follows in his footsteps as a southern fashion hub that employs and prioritizes queer folks\, folks of color and creatives alike.

However\, coming out of the pandemic\, the district has faltered and struggled with many properties in transition and perceptions of a lack of public safety. While previous revitalization efforts have fallen short\, a groundswell of public and private support to evolve the district has recently emerged. This new\, organized\, and cross-collaborative coalition is working together to help the district evolve. \nIn this discussion\, first we’ll hear from Dr. Tamara Herold\, an American Crime Scientist\, who will share the results of her Austin Crime Report\, and its direct ties to 6th Street. \nThen\, our panel will discuss what they are doing to combat these challenges to improve public safety and revitalize the district: \n\nEddie Garcia\, Assistant City Manager\, East 6th Safety Task Force;\nPaul Bondeman\, Senior Vice President\, Stream’s efforts toward new Old 6th Street;\nBlake Thompson\, co-founder of State Street Properties will discuss the owner/operator vision.\n\nOur panel will make the case to embrace the evolution of E Sixth Street and leverage it\, to revitalize the district and to serve all ages\, ushering usher in a new era for the future of Sixth Street and downtown.

As she created their portraits\, the Ambassadors told her about the pride in the work that they do and shared stories about their lives. It is her hope that this collection brings further attention and dignity to the folks who do this hard work. \nAbout the Artists:\nMalti B Lee PhD (b. London\, England\, 1990) is a British Indian artist based in Austin and collected internationally. Drawing on her global background\, Malti explores the cities she’s experienced through her acrylic paintings. Malti’s works have been presented in solo shows and numerous group exhibits across San Francisco\, Northern California and Texas. Notable works include commissions for the NHL’s San Jose Sharks and the City of San Ramon\, CA. \nhttp://maltiblee.com/ \n​​Megan Hildebrandt received her BFA from the Stamps School of Art & Design in 2006\, and her MFA in Studio Art from the University of South Florida in 2012. Hildebrandt has exhibited nationally and internationally\, including: The Painting Center\, New American Paintings\, The Baltimore Museum of Art\, The Museum of Contemporary Craft\, Arlington Arts Center\, Detroit Contemporary\, HEREarts Center\, Latitude 53\, Johns Hopkins Medical Center\, the LIVESTRONG Foundation\, Hyde Park Art Center\, The Torpedo Factory\, and Collar Works. In 2018\, Hildebrandt received an Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for the Aesthetics of Health Course she developed for Interlochen Arts Academy. DESCRIPTION:This Fall\, the Downtown Austin Alliance Foundation is bringing an exciting new outdoor movie experience to Republic Square. We are teaming up with the creators of Shaolin Jazz to present the first-ever CAN I KICK IT? Downtown Austin movie series; iconic films scored LIVE with a new soundtrack!\n\n \nCAN I KICK IT? is a film experience catered to the lovers of cult classic action films and Kung-Fu flicks\, the music they inspired and everything else in between. At each event films are scored live (scene-by-scene) with a blend of Hip Hop\, Soul\, Rock and more mixed by DJ 2-Tone Jones. To date over 150 different film titles have been screened at CIKI? events featured across the map including at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts\, SXSW\, Smithsonian National Gallery of Art\, New York Asian Film Festival\, Oakland Museum of California\, PAX East Video Game Convention and more.\n\n \nThe series line-up is as follows:* Black Panther (PG-13) | Sept 27\, Ft. Special Guest\, local DJ Kay Cali* Ghostbusters (PG) | Oct 25* The Last Dragon (PG-13) | Nov 22\n\n \nThe events are free for all ages and open to the public. Each night the festivities will kick off at 7pm with an opening DJ set\, followed by the film shortly after 8pm. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. Food trucks and other amenities will be on-site.

DASA bridges this gap by connecting artists\, artisans\, musicians\, entrepreneurs\, and creatives of all kinds with donated space and resources to bring their ideas to life\, encouraging diversity and dynamism in our city.
