SUMMARY:District 6 April Community Meeting - CodeNEXT
DESCRIPTION:The CodeNEXT draft maps have just been released… and now is the time to get involved.\n\n \nWhat is CodeNEXT?\n \nCodeNEXT is the city’s effort to rewrite its land development code\, which is basically a rule book for the city\, explaining what can be built where. CodeNEXT will determine how Austin looks 10\, 15\, and even 50 years from now. And it will affect everything from affordability\, to transportation\, to the environment. In other words\, it’s a really big deal.\n \n\nThe draft code was released at the beginning of the year\, but the big news came in April when the maps were released. The maps actually apply the rules laid out in the new land development code to certain neighborhoods and regions in Austin.\n \n\nIn order to educate the public (and to get people like you more involved) several City Council members are hosting community meetings about CodeNEXT in their districts. The Northwest Austin Coalition and Council Member Jimmy Flannigan are hosting a community meeting for District 6 on April 24th.\n \n\nThis meeting is primarily for folks willing to host satellite meetings elsewhere in District 6 on this topic in May\, although all are welcome.\n \n\nFor more information about CodeNEXT and the land development draft code and map\, please visit the CodeNEXT website.\n \n\nDon’t know which City Council district you live in?
