SUMMARY:Dinner and Discussion: Inside the Fight to Stop LNG in the Valley!
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by the Sierra Club\, Public Citizen Texas\, the Austin Environmental Justice Team\, Extinction Rebellion ATX\, and the Carrizo Comecrudo Tribe of Texas –\nJoin community members from the Rio Grande Valley and the Carrizo Comecrudo Tribe of Texas for a dinner and panel discussion to learn more and take action to stop the fracked gas expansion near South Padre Island\, defend sacred indigenous sites\, and protect communities from environmental racism! \nFor years\, community members and activists have been organizing in the Rio Grande Valley to stop the construction of the Texas LNG export terminal and two other fracked gas projects. \nA lot is at stake in this fight! If the proposed Texas LNG terminal is built\, it would destroy the Garcia Pasture\, a historical indigenous site home to sacred burial grounds and a village. The project would also pollute nearby communities with known hazardous chemicals and irreparably destroy the habitat for endangered species\, like the ocelot. \nWe can stop all of this destruction.
