His research focuses on the distribution of groundwater species in Texas and patterns of biodiversity in subterranean habitats. He received his PhD from Texas State University and previously worked as the state invertebrate biologist at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. DESCRIPTION:Ruben Tovar received his bachelor’s from The University of Texas at Arlington and his master’s in Biology at Texas State University. He has collaborated with U.S. Fish and Wildlife\, San Marcos Aquatic Resources Center to breed Texas blind salamanders\, San Marcos salamanders\, and Barton Springs salamanders for his research. Ruben is now a Ph.D. Candidate at The University of Texas at Austin.
