Bring them to a Fix-It Clinic and learn hands-on repair skills with help from our expert volunteers—free of charge! \nNew policy: Starting with this event\, we will no longer work on laptops\, cell phones\, or tablets at the Fix-It Clinic. These projects often require extensive troubleshooting and take up a lot of our volunteers’ time. Instead\, we encourage you to subscribe to the Fix-It Austin newsletter to receive announcements of upcoming workshops focused on electronics repair\, consult the Austin Reuse Directory to find a professional repair shop\, and/or look for a repair guide on the IFixIt website. \nHow it works: Bring up to two items (excluding laptops\, cellphones\, and tablets) and work with our coaches to learn how to fix them. Tools will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own. If you know your item needs a replacement part\, please bring it with you. While we can’t guarantee every item will be repaired\, you’ll learn how it works and what you may need to fix it. Note that our electronics/miscellaneous category is the most popular and sometimes there is a wait to work with a volunteer. \nYou can RSVP for a time slot here. \nDrop-off option: Can’t attend in person? The festival is expected to bring over 15\,000 attendees. In an effort to divert the material out of the local landfill\, Austin Resource Recovery is seeking volunteers to help attendees dispose material in the correct bin and manage the event collection stations. The event is scheduled for Saturday\, October 26th.   \nYou can sign up for a volunteer shift here. \nWhat to bring: A reusable water bottle.  \nPlease Note: Volunteers should either be accompanied by a guardian or 18+. Then you can pick it up from the Cepeda Branch\, September 16-21. We cannot guarantee that your item will be fixed\, and items not picked up by closing time on September 21 will be donated. DESCRIPTION:MoveOutATX helps students donate unwanted\, gently used items at nearby locations in West Campus. The program reduces the amount of material in dumpsters and on curbs\, makes it easier for students to donate used items\, and gives back to the Austin community. \nThe program’s Free Furniture Market also returns for its third year. Austinites can pick up free furniture pieces from the Market location on a first-come\, first-served basis. The Market will be open daily from 6:30-8 p.m. (or while supplies last). \nLend a helping hand at the Free Furniture Market\, July 27-31! The Free Furniture Market makes furniture items donated during the off-campus donation event MoveOutATX available to members of the public at no cost. \nWe need volunteers to unload furniture\, direct traffic\, and help visitors claim furniture. We have a variety of roles and times in 2.5 – 3 hour long shifts from 2:30 – 8 p.m. daily (from July 27th – 31st).  \nThere are four different roles you can sign up for: \n\nShopper and Traffic Oversight (on feet\, mostly in sun)\nMovers and Lifters (on feet\, ability to lift 50 lbs. necessary)\nSeated and Shaded\nSpanish-Speaking Customer Liaison (mostly seated and shaded\, 3-hour shifts)\n\nPerks: Volunteers will receive a cool-it towel\, snacks\, cold water\, electrolyte drinks\, and discounts at local Austin businesses. \nMoveOutATX is a partnership between the City of Austin\, the UT Office of Sustainability and the UT Office of the Dean of Students\, as well as participating reuse organizations and property management companies.

DESCRIPTION:In the past\, the annual Juneteenth Parade in east Austin has generated plastic waste along the route. In an effort to divert material and encourage plastic recycling\, Austin Resource Recovery is seeking volunteers to help collect recyclable material\, while walking with our community recycling truck. The event is scheduled for Saturday\, June 15th. You can sign up to volunteer here.\n\nMeeting Location: Comal Street between MLK and Manor Road \n\nWhat to bring: A FULL bottle of water and sunscreen are strongly recommended\n\nPlease Note: The route is estimated to be 2.5 miles long round trip\, and occurs during the summer. Extreme high temperatures are expected. Comfortable shoes and clothes are recommended. Parking and day of details will be confirmed the week of the event.
