DESCRIPTION:Attend the Fix-It Clinic where skilled volunteers will teach you how to repair your broken household items. \n\n\n\n\nGot a broken item like a torn shirt\, faulty blender or worn-out toy? Bring them to a Fix-It Clinic and learn hands-on repair skills with help from our expert volunteers—free of charge! RSVP for a time slot here. \nNew policy: We will no longer work on computers\, cell phones\, or tablets at the Fix-It Clinic. These projects often require extensive troubleshooting and take up a lot of our volunteers’ time. Instead\, we encourage you to subscribe to the Fix-It Austin newsletter to receive announcements of upcoming workshops focused on electronics repair\, consult the Austin Reuse Directory to find a professional repair shop\, and/or look for a repair guide on the IFixIt website. \nHow it works: Bring up to two items (excluding computers\, cellphones\, and tablets) and work with our coaches to learn how to fix them. Tools will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own. If you know your item needs a replacement part\, please bring it with you. While we can’t guarantee every item will be repaired\, you’ll learn how it works and what you may need to fix it. Note that our electronics/miscellaneous category is the most popular and sometimes there is a wait to work with a volunteer. \nDrop-off option: Can’t attend in person? Drop off your item at the Turner Roberts Recreation Center (7201 Colonly Loop Dr.)\, September 11-17. We’ll try to fix it\, and you can pick it up September 20-25. DESCRIPTION:Lend a helping hand at the Free Furniture Market\, July 26-27! The Free Furniture Market makes furniture items donated during the off-campus donation event MoveOutATX available to members of the public at no cost. \nWe need volunteers to unload furniture\, direct traffic\, and help visitors claim furniture. We have a variety of roles and times. The Market will open daily from 6:30-8 p.m. (or while supplies last). \nYou may notice we need volunteers well before the Market opens. These volunteers will help set up\, unload and inventory items\, and assist patrons who arrive early. \nThere are four different roles you can sign up for: \n\nShopper and Traffic Oversight (on feet\, mostly in sun)\nMovers and Lifters (on feet\, ability to lift 50 lbs. necessary)\nSeated and Shaded\nSpanish-Speaking Customer Liaison (mostly seated and shaded)\n\nSign up for a volunteer role and time slot here.  \nPerks: Volunteers will receive a cool-it towel\, snacks\, cold water\, and electrolyte drinks. Plus\, you’ll feel good knowing you’re helping keep good stuff out of the landfill and getting it into the hands of a new owner! \nThings to Note: \n\nThis volunteer opportunity is outside.\nA tent for shade will be available for breaks.\nPlease read the role description to understand expectations.\nDress appropriately for the heat (breathable\, loose clothing\, closed-toe shoes\, sunscreen\, sunglasses\, hats\, and any additional sun protection).\nIce water will be available onsite. Please bring a refillable water bottle.\nBring your own gently used items to drop-off before your shift at the on-site donation station. MoveOutATX is working with seven reuse organizations\, so if you’ve got stuff that’s still usable\, chances are we can accept it! Students and residents can donate gently used items like clothing\, furniture\, housewares\, open or new cleaning supplies/toiletries\, art/office supplies\, unopened nonperishable food\, and more. The event is expected to bring over 40\,000 attendees. In an effort to divert the material out of the local landfill\, Austin Resource Recovery is seeking volunteers to help attendees dispose material in the correct bin and manage the event collection stations. The event is scheduled for Saturday\, July 4th.  \nYou can sign up to volunteer here.\n\nEvent Details\nDate: Saturday\, July 4th\nTime: 10:00AM-12:30PM\nWhat to bring: A FULL bottle of water and sunscreen are strongly recommended \nYouth Volunteers: All volunteers under the age of 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. A parent or legal guardian must register and attend with the youth volunteer. Independent registrations submitted by minors are not permitted. \nPet Policy: For safety and liability reasons\, pets are not permitted at volunteer events. Service animals are welcome.

The event is scheduled for Friday\, June 19th. \nEvent Details\nDate: Friday\, June 19th\nTime: 9:30AM-12:00PM\nYou can sign up for a volunteer time slot and location here. \nWhat to bring: A FULL bottle of water and sunscreen are strongly recommended \nPlease Note: Volunteers will help collect and encourage event attendees to recycle right! Recycling stations will be staged along the route and volunteers will oversee proper disposal during the parade. Volunteers will be asked to change recycling liners when full. Must be able to pick up 15lbs. Instructions and safety gear will be provided. Extreme high temperatures are expected. Comfortable shoes and clothes are recommended. Parking and day of details will be confirmed the week of the event.

Instead\, we encourage you to subscribe to the Fix-It Austin newsletter to receive announcements of upcoming workshops focused on electronics repair\, consult the Austin Reuse Directory to find a professional repair shop\, and/or look for a repair guide on the IFixIt website. \nHow it works: Bring up to two items (excluding computers\, cellphones\, and tablets) and work with our coaches to learn how to fix them. Tools will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own. If you know your item needs a replacement part\, please bring it with you. While we can’t guarantee every item will be repaired\, you’ll learn how it works and what you may need to fix it. SUMMARY:September 2025 Fix-It Clinic
DESCRIPTION:Got a broken item like a torn shirt\, faulty blender or worn-out toy? Bring them to a Fix-It Clinic and learn hands-on repair skills with help from our expert volunteers—free of charge! \nGet your free ticket here. \nNew policy: We will no longer work on computers\, cell phones\, or tablets at the Fix-It Clinic. These projects often require extensive troubleshooting and take up a lot of our volunteers’ time. Instead\, we encourage you to subscribe to the Fix-It Austin newsletter to receive announcements of upcoming workshops focused on electronics repair\, consult the Austin Reuse Directory to find a professional repair shop\, and/or look for a repair guide on the IFixIt website. \nHow it works: Bring up to two items (excluding computers\, cellphones\, and tablets) and work with our coaches to learn how to fix them. Tools will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own. If you know your item needs a replacement part\, please bring it with you. While we can’t guarantee every item will be repaired\, you’ll learn how it works and what you may need to fix it. Note that our electronics/miscellaneous category is the most popular and sometimes there is a wait to work with a volunteer. \nDrop-off option: Can’t attend in person? Drop off your item at the Conley-Guerrero Senior Activity Center (808 Nile St.)\, September 5-11. We’ll try to fix it\, and you can pick it up September 15-20. Items not claimed by September 20 will be donated. Space is limited\, and a waiver is required.

SUMMARY:2025 Circular Austin Showcase
DESCRIPTION:The City of Austin’s Circular Austin Showcase connects circular economy businesses and entrepreneurs with potential investors in the region. Circular economy businesses reimagine how they design and offer goods and services and maximize the useful life of goods and their parts. \nDuring the event on August 26\, five business owners will pitch their circular economy business ideas to judges for a chance to win $10\,000 in prize money and three early-stage entrepreneurs will compete for $2\,000. \n2025 Competitors Include:\nCocarbon converts agricultural waste into sustainable activated carbon for water filtration. Their carbon-negative\, solar-powered process eliminates expensive water transport\, reduces waterborne diseases\, and creates local jobs. \nCRAFT is a public studio that promotes sustainability through a shared use model for arts and crafts. Their model reduces waste\, prevents unnecessary consumption\, and fosters an inclusive\, community-driven approach to making. \nHeartening is a community-driven initiative dedicated to creating a sustainable culture of giving and reuse. They are powered by volunteers who care about giving clothing back to the community freely or extremely cheaply. \nSave the Good Stuff is committed to the preservation and reuse of vulnerable vintage and historic building materials. They aim to maintain the integrity of Austin’s built environment. \nWanderlust Wine Co.  is the world’s largest wine-on-tap winery. They are on a mission to change the world through wine by utilizing sustainable\, recyclable and reusable packaging and practices. \nPlus\, three additional businesses that will qualify via the Circular Accelerator program on August 13th.
