Every year since 2012, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving has been designated as Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving and generosity.
Well, this year might just be the most important Giving Tuesday yet.
“Central Texas nonprofits continue to face an unprecedented challenge — as need increases, resources are more limited. This is a critical time for our community to once again step up and embrace generosity in all of its forms — through sustaining donations, acts of kindness, giving of time and talent, and more,” said Courtney Manuel (I Live Here I Give Here CEO) in a recent press release.
I Live Here I Give Here is a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to make Central Texas the most generous community in the country. As the official Central Texas community leader for Giving Tuesday, I Live Here I Give Here is partnering with dozens of media organizations (including The Austin Common) to spread the message of Giving Tuesday and help raise money for all of Austin’s amazing nonprofits.

Not sure where you want to donate? Visit AmplifyATX.org for a list of hundreds of local nonprofits (searchable by issue area) and make a donation online. If your budget allows, consider making a recurring donation to provide a more stable funding source for local orgs.
Encourage your friends & family to donate as well by setting up a fundraising page for your chosen nonprofit & cause.
Already have an organization you love? You can also reach out to them directly/ check their social media pages & website for donation links and additional Giving Tuesday info.
Don’t quite have the budget to donate? That’s okay! You can still participate by signing up to volunteer for a cause you care about. Check out VolunteerMatch.com for a list of opportunities. You can also spread the Giving Tuesday message on social media by participating in the Generosity Now Challenge & using the hashtag #ILiveHereIGiveHere.
