SUMMARY:Large Water Users Open House
DESCRIPTION:Austin Water is hosting an Open House to seek community feedback on proposed policy concepts for large water users in our service area. The public is invited to come and learn more about Austin Water’s current and proposed actions to promote responsible water use for large water use customers. \nMonday\, Oct. 5 | 5:30–7:30 p.m.\nCity of Austin Permitting and Development Center\n6310 Wilhelmina Delco Drive\, Austin\, TX 78752\nRoom 1405 Event Center \nAustin Water’s current policies include requiring new development to fund and build the infrastructure needed to serve their development\, requiring all new commercial and multifamily customers to identify how water will be used on-site\, and a comprehensive set of water conservation requirements and incentives. Large developments are further required to reuse water onsite and/or connect to the centralized reclaimed (recycled) water system for uses such as irrigation\, toilet flushing and cooling. \nBuilding on these existing practices\, we are developing a policy framework to support long-term planning and help high impact water customers use water responsibly. \nFollowing direction from the Austin City Council\, the proposed framework will: \n\nClarify and update definitions for high impact water users.\nStrengthen the development review process for new large water use customers.\nRequire new and existing large water use customers to provide detailed water conservation plans.\nExpand the requirements for existing programs that reduce drinking water demand through reclaimed water\, onsite reuse\, efficient cooling and other conservation strategies.\nEstablish water budgets\, monitoring and accountability measures.\n\nPublic feedback will help Austin Water refine recommendations before they are presented to Austin City Council for consideration.

SUMMARY:Help Shape The Future Of RGK + Reimers Ranch Parks: Open House
DESCRIPTION:Travis County is developing vision plans for Reimers Ranch Park and its newest park\, RGK Ranch Park\, which is not yet open to the public. Share your input to help shape the future of these parks and the experiences they offer. \nAttend the open house: Wednesday\, October 7\, from 5:00–7:30 PM at the Lake Travis Middle School cafeteria\, 4932 Bee Creek Road in Spicewood. \nAbout RGK Ranch Park: \nRGK Ranch Park is a 1\,500-acre portion of the Kozmetsky Ranch\, recently acquired by Travis County. This new parkland is east of Reimers Ranch Park and off of Highway 71 and Reimers-Peacock Road. Much of the property remains undeveloped. \nRocky uplands\, limestone bluffs\, creek corridors\, native habitats for deer / birds / smaller fauna\, wooded madrone stands\, and broad Hill Country vistas give the park a distinct natural character. Remaining within the parkland are two areas to be maintained with the park’s future use: Casa Blanca\, a hilltop house with a vista of the park’s beautiful Hill Country landscape\, and the Memorial Garden\, a place for reflection and peace. \nThe park is currently maintained under Travis County Parks and Land Management. Due to its significant natural character\, potential vision for its use may include backcountry hikes and areas of conservation\nfor environmental education.

SUMMARY:Groasis Splash
DESCRIPTION:Come cool off with us at Groasis Splash! With your help\, we’ll wash and prep our Groasis Waterboxxes for the new planting season. These innovative planting devices capture rain and condensation\, then slowly release it to young trees—helping them survive the Central Texas heat while using very little water. By giving them a good cleaning\, you’ll be making sure they’re ready to keep supporting the Central Texas Floodplain Reforestation Program and the next generation of trees. \nExpect a fun few hours of suds\, splashes\, and good vibes—we’ll have snacks and tunes to keep the energy high. Please wear clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet and/or a little dirty. Think of it as one last chance to soak up Austin’s “bonus summer” before the cooler weather rolls in. \nWe will meet at the TreeFolks headquarters at 10803 Platt Lane\, Austin\, 78725. \nNo experience necessary! We will provide gloves and all other supplies\, as well as coffee\, water\, and snacks. We look forward to working with you! You can RSVP here.
