DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Austin’s local literature scene at Meanwhile Brewing for the fourth annual Lagers & Literature Book Fair! \nFrom 11-4pm\, we’ll have a variety of vendors including local authors and printmakers\, Austin Public Library\, independent bookstores\, specialized booksellers\, archives\, and book makers. Rockman Coffee + Bakeshop is popping up with a variety of baked goods from 11-2pm. Feels So Good is also doing live screenprints of this year’s poster design by local artist Elianna Panakis on canvas tote bags from 11-1pm. Bags are limited so come early to grab yours! \nOther activities include zine making with Lone Star Zine Fest\, book press coasters with Austin Book Arts Center\, and customized poems from Typewriter Rodeo. Carlie Arts is hosting a beginner-friendly\, drop-in design your own bookmark class in the beer garden from 2-4pm with a variety of designs to choose from. \nPlus\, we’re releasing our beer collab with Austin Public Library\, Bookworm\, a Coffee Cream Ale. Enjoy Bookworm in cans to go or on draft in the taproom. \nThis event supports the Inside Books Project\, who provide reading and educational materials to incarcerated Texans. DESCRIPTION:The Austin History Center invites you to join us on Sunday\, September 7th from 1-4pm for a celebration and exhibit opening in our new space at 800 Guadalupe Street!\nWe will have music\, food\, tours\, and activities for the whole family.\nWe have so many reasons to celebrate: the 25 year Anniversary of the Community Archives Program\, our move to a new space\, the completion of our survey\, and the opening of our new exhibit\, Unboxing the Archive: Our Records\, Our Stories. \n\n\nMore info:\n\nThe Community Archives Program began 25 years ago because the community wanted more representation in the archives and the Austin History Center needed staff who could liaise between the city and underrepresented communities. Our Liaisons and Archivists worked closely with community members to cultivate a more rich and diverse offering of archives in our collections. The Community Archives Program is now recognized as a model for municipally-run community archives programs across the country. \nUnboxing the Archives: Our Records\, Our Stories is an exhibit that helps demystify the archives. What are archives? How are they used? What is the Austin History Center’s role in preserving these stories?
