DESCRIPTION:The City of Austin’s Circular Austin Showcase connects circular economy businesses and entrepreneurs with potential investors in the region. Circular economy businesses reimagine how they design and offer goods and services and maximize the useful life of goods and their parts. \nDuring the event on August 26\, five business owners will pitch their circular economy business ideas to judges for a chance to win $10\,000 in prize money and three early-stage entrepreneurs will compete for $2\,000. \n2025 Competitors Include:\nCocarbon converts agricultural waste into sustainable activated carbon for water filtration. Their carbon-negative\, solar-powered process eliminates expensive water transport\, reduces waterborne diseases\, and creates local jobs. \nCRAFT is a public studio that promotes sustainability through a shared use model for arts and crafts. Their model reduces waste\, prevents unnecessary consumption\, and fosters an inclusive\, community-driven approach to making. \nHeartening is a community-driven initiative dedicated to creating a sustainable culture of giving and reuse. They are powered by volunteers who care about giving clothing back to the community freely or extremely cheaply. \nSave the Good Stuff is committed to the preservation and reuse of vulnerable vintage and historic building materials. They aim to maintain the integrity of Austin’s built environment. \nWanderlust Wine Co.  is the world’s largest wine-on-tap winery. They are on a mission to change the world through wine by utilizing sustainable\, recyclable and reusable packaging and practices. \nPlus\, three additional businesses that will qualify via the Circular Accelerator program on August 13th.

DESCRIPTION:Dear Community\, Join us! \n​We are bringing back our bus tours for the summer\, but this time with a twist. Instead of a tour\, we will have a hands-on zine workshop with a musical experience by our co-hosts Beitna – Austin’s home for SWANA arts & culture. \nDuring our journey on the redline\, we will be welcomed with music by Reema Barakat and Danny Kodeih. They will be playing Arabic classics with oud and percussion. \n​We will meet near Plaza Saltillo (exact location TBA) for 30 minutes to learn about the 2035 Transit Plan\, learn how to make a zine\, and then\, from there\, we will head to Plaza Saltillo for a 22-minute ride up north to continue our craft with musicians before we head back. \n​Schedule: \n\n\n​11:30 am-12 pm – Meet near Plaza Saltillo (exact location TBA) \n\n\n​Walk over at 12 pm to catch the northbound redline from Plaza Statillo at 12:15 pm (5-minute walk) \n\n\n​Head to Crestview Station (15 minutes total) \n\n\n​Catch the southbound redline back down at 12:49 pm (waiting 19 minutes at Fat Cats Cafe) \n\n\n​Head back to Plaza Saltillo\, which is another 15-minute ride \n\n\n​Please reach out if you have any questions! \n​Zine materials and digital day passes included! \n​Joon Community is a not-for-profit organization with 501(c)(3) status.
