This special event will feature a moving musical performance by Bidita Majumdar\, a Senior at Westwood High School\, followed by a deeply engaging panel discussion that resonates with the challenges immigrants are experiencing from xenophobia and changing policies. \nOur panelists will share more about changing policies and how prejudice and bullying continue to affect immigrant communities. DESCRIPTION:Through projection mapping technology\, the historic Seaholm Intake Facility façade will transform into a canvas of art\, light\, and motion. WaterWork\, an immersive art experience by The Trail Conservancy and Design Austin\, is a first-of-its-kind projection that celebrates the dynamic between the urban environment and the natural landscape and the many talents of Austin’s creative community. \nArtists and designers were asked to create short videos that explore the coexistence of the city with nature in the heart of downtown. The immersive display will debut at dusk on Thursday\, September 12 and Tuesday\, September 17 and be visible from several vantage points: on land from the Pfluger Bridge or the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail; and on the water from kayaks\, paddleboards\, and other watercraft. \nThis project is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department. \nWaterWork is co-curated by Anahita Bradberry\, Taylor Davis\, Emily Eisenhart\, Moyo Oyelola\, and Kristi-Anne Shaer.

Interested Austinites can begin gathering at the Downtown Station at 11:15.\n\n  \nProfessor Dev Niyogi of the UT Jackson School of Geosciences will then present– at the platform and during the train ride– about what climate is\, how the weather extremes are affecting Central TX\, and what we can do to help mitigate it (including the use of public transit). The train departs the station at 11:34.\n\n  \nRiders will then exit at Crestview Station and proceed across the sidewalk to Black Star Coop\, where a community discussion about the topic will be moderated by City Sustainability Officer Zach Baumer\, Dr Niyogi\, and Transit Forward Executive Director Bill McCamley.  The conversation will conclude at 1pm. Council Member Ryan Alter will also be present to talk about the City’s Climate Bond Advisory Task Force.\n\n  \nParticipants are expected to pay for their own fares and lunch\, but 30 train passes for the event are being offered by Cap Metro on a first come\, first serve basis. Bring these items and more to a local Fix-It Clinic to learn how to fix your broken items from skilled volunteer coaches — for free! \nWhile we can’t guarantee your item will be fixed\, coaches will guide you through how the item works and what you may need for repair. Attendees are expected to actively participate and stay with their items during the repair process. \nCan’t make it to the clinic? \nDrop off your broken item at the Cepeda Branch Library (651 N Pleasant Valley Rd)\, September 6-12\, and our volunteers will try to fix it for you. DESCRIPTION:Through projection mapping technology\, the historic Seaholm Intake Facility façade will transform into a canvas of art\, light\, and motion. WaterWork\, an immersive art experience by The Trail Conservancy and Design Austin\, is a first-of-its-kind projection that celebrates the dynamic between the urban environment and the natural landscape and the many talents of Austin’s creative community. \nArtists and designers were asked to create short videos that explore the coexistence of the city with nature in the heart of downtown. The immersive display will debut at dusk on Thursday\, September 12 and Tuesday\, September 17 and be visible from several vantage points: on land from the Pfluger Bridge or the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail; and on the water from kayaks\, paddleboards\, and other watercraft. \nThis project is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development Department. \nWaterWork is co-curated by Anahita Bradberry\, Taylor Davis\, Emily Eisenhart\, Moyo Oyelola\, and Kristi-Anne Shaer.

Vacant storefronts and spaces downtown lead to fewer folks coming downtown to play\, shop and explore. DASA bridges this gap by connecting artists\, artisans\, musicians\, entrepreneurs\, and creatives of all kinds with donated space and resources to bring their ideas to life\, encouraging diversity and dynamism in our city.

DESCRIPTION:We spent the spring of 2024 learning from the Holly neighborhood community about their goals\, priorities\, and visions for the future of Holly Shores and now it’s time to design! Be a part of our design team and join us for one of our three neighborhood open house events to provide your input on which park/Trail elements should be added and where. September 21 from 9-11 AM Lorraine “Grandma” Camacho Activity Center September 25 from 6:30-7:30 PM Zoom October 7 from 6-8 PM Rodolfo “Rudy” Mendez Recreation Center \n  \nMore info: \nThe Trail Conservancy is currently working on improving the Trail and its connections\, implementing additional elements proposed in PARD’s Holly Shores/Edward Rendon Sr. Park Vision Plan. The Vision Plan designed a vision for revitalized open space that integrates redevelopment of the decommissioned Holly Street Power Plant. During this phase of work\, TTC will present findings from the first engagement session to review and ensure TTC understands the stakeholders’ and communities’ priorities and values for the project. TTC will also present the initial design concepts to get feedback on their alignment with outlined project desires and priorities. \nSee all the feedback from our community engagement and learn about the Holly neighborhood community’s vision for the Trail and parkland with our comprehensive visual story map.
