These projects often require extensive troubleshooting and take up a lot of our volunteers’ time. Instead\, we encourage you to subscribe to the Fix-It Austin newsletter to receive announcements of upcoming workshops focused on electronics repair\, consult the Austin Reuse Directory to find a professional repair shop\, and/or look for a repair guide on the IFixIt website. \nHow it works: Bring up to two items (excluding computers\, cellphones\, and tablets) and work with our coaches to learn how to fix them. Tools will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own. If you know your item needs a replacement part\, please bring it with you. While we can’t guarantee every item will be repaired\, you’ll learn how it works and what you may need to fix it. SUMMARY:Bird Walk with Travis Audubon and The Trail Conservancy
DESCRIPTION:Join Rachel Zierzow and TTC Volunteer Manager Jonatan Salinas to find birds on the Butler Trail at the Holly Trailhead. Recently planted native trees\, shrubs\, wildflowers\, and natural spring water provide excellent habitats for a variety of bird species. As TTC restores this section of the Buter Trail\, there will be a change of birds\, so you’ll want to come on this monthly walk! \nBird walks are: \n\n1-2 miles long\, completed in around 3 hours\nBeginner-friendly (all levels are welcome)\nOn mostly flat terrain (dissolved gravel trail and sidewalks)\nWe have binoculars to lend to anyone who doesn’t have a pair\n\n  \nRegistration is required and is limited to 10 participants. A reminder email with details will be sent before the bird walk date.

Now’s your chance! \nJoin us for Overheard on a Train\, and see what it’s like to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. \nExcept\, you’re not walking—because you’re on a train. \nAnd also—it’s longer than a mile. \nAnd also—you wear your own shoes. \nYou can book your ticket here.  \nOverheard on a Train is an interactive experience that takes place on board Austin’s metro-rail. You and three friends will sign up as a group\, and receive a script when you board the train. During the journey\, your foursome will read the script to each other\, out loud. (It’s a “table read\,” and you are the actors!) Your collective story will unfold as you turn each page and deliver each line. Choose which storyline your group likes best\, such as THE BAND\, or THE BACHELORETTE PARTY\, or THE BANK ROBBERS—and we’re now offering THE MIDDLE SCHOOLERS\, for kids and families!
