The event is free and open to the public\, and the trees are available on a first come first served basis. \nMost of the trees are designated for Austin Energy customers\, but thanks to Circuit of the Americas\, we will have 100 trees available for non AE customers. We’ll provide 2 trees per household. Bring your electric bill or driver’s license to prove Austin residency for trees. \nWe’ll have Satsuma orange\, fig\, peach\, pear\, plum\, persimmon\, and/or pomegranate trees. We’re going to be giving out all our remaining fruit trees for this event\, so the exact quantity and varieties available is subject to change. Everything we have has been selected for vigor and adaptability to Austin’s soil and climate though.

If you’re looking for a reason to duck out of work and get muddy volunteering\, this is a great opportunity.  The site is not easily accessed\, and most people never get to see it. \nThis event is a partnership between the City of Austin Forestry Division\, City of Austin Watershed Protection and TreeFolks\, Inc. to plant small saplings. These saplings will help to restore native tree and shrub diversity and reduce water runoff and improve water quality in Austin’s creeks and wetlands. \nYou should wear long pants and closed toe shoes as we will be working in areas with tall vegetation.
