SUMMARY:S.P.A.R.K Forum
DESCRIPTION:From the State of Texas Alliance for Recycling –\nS.P.A.R.K. Forum = Supporting Partnerships And Recycling Knowledge. \nJoin STAR Central Texas for a day of information sharing and partnership building. \nSTAR Central Texas is the new name for the Central Texas Recycling Committee (CTRC) of STAR (State of Texas Alliance for Recycling). \nThe S.P.A.R.K Forum is aimed at agencies\, institutions\, and businesses striving to reduce waste. \nWhat: This year’s forum focuses on “becoming a change agent” to reach our goals in sustainable programing. Many of us work in environments where we are alone in trying to advance for zero waste\, recycling\, or sustainability within our unique organization or under unique circumstances. In these environments\, it is easy to feel discouraged and that there is no one to turn to for guidance\, but there are common themes that unite all of the work that we do. Every project has to accomplish two goals: 1) Convincing the decision-makers to take action and 2) Successfully executing the vision with limited resources. The SPARK Forum will focus on helping you achieve these goals so you can advance zero waste in Central Texas. \nOur Keynote speaker is Brad Pease\, Vice President of Paladino\, a green building and sustainability consulting firm\, who will share insights on how to gain the support of key decision-makers. After a networking lunch\,  attendees will have the chance to participate in an active learning workshop on behavior change and hear panel presentations focused on “implementing the change” success stories. \n  \nWhen:                 Wednesday\, February 24\, 2016 \nRegistration 9:15 am- 9:30 am \nForum 9:45 am – 4:00pm \n                              Happy Hour Mixer- Austin Ale House 4:15- 6:00 \nWhere:                Travis County Conference Rooms\, 1st Floor – 700 Lavaca Austin\, TX 78702 \nMeals:                  Lunch will be provided by STAR \n  \nREGISTER HERE FOR THE S.P.A.R.K FORUM

SUMMARY:The Paris Climate Agreement\, An Austin Perspective
DESCRIPTION:Presented by – Austin EcoNework + Rainforest Partnership \nJoin Austin Mayor Steve Adler\, Austin City Council Member Leslie Pool\, Rainforest Partnership Executive Director Niyanta Spelman\, Texas Interfaith Associate Director Yaira Robinson\, and Huston-Tillotson student Brittany Foley for an engaging panel discussion on the Paris Climate Agreement\, Austin’s role in the global fight to curb climate change\, and what you can do to support our planet. \nSchedule of Events: \n\n5:30pm: Doors Open\n6pm: Mayor Steve Adler Kicks Event Off\n6:15pm: Panel Discussion Begins\n7pm: Panel Q&A\n8pm: Event Wrap Up\n\n……. \n2016 has begun with a sense of optimism about climate change after the success of the Paris climate talks in December of last year. The deal is a turning point for climate policy\, and a demonstration that countries around the world can come together to address a common concern.  This in turn may mean more enthusiasm for commitments to renewables and other lower-carbon energy sources. But what does that mean for Austin and you? \nYou are invited to take a look behind the scenes of this historic agreement with an engaging panel discussion between local leaders who were on the ground for the action. They’ll talk about the significance of the agreement itself\, as well as Austin’s role in this global response to curb the climate crisis. This is the perfect opportunity to learn more about one of the biggest issues of our time – climate change – and what your local community is doing to tackle it.
