SUMMARY:Regenerating Earth Book Tour with Kelsey Timmerman
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an evening of conversation about living regeneratively with bestselling author and journalist Kelsey Timmerman as he presents his new book Regenerating Earth: Farmers Working with Nature to Feed Our Future. \nDoors Open: 6 PM | Event Start: 6:30 PM \nTimmerman comes from a long line of farmers and lives in rural Indiana\, surrounded by monocultures of corn and soybeans. Motivated by the challenges he saw at home—polluted water and air\, and fraying ties between land and community—and a belief that humans can be a force for good\, he set out to find a more hopeful path. \nOver five years and across five continents\, Timmerman met farmers\, Indigenous leaders\, and activists. From Hawaiian kalo patches to the Amazon rainforest and Maasai cattle lands\, Regenerating Earth is a compelling\, deeply personal\, and surprisingly joyful journey that explores what it means to live regeneratively. Not just in how we farm\, but in how we connect to each other and the planet. Through stories full of grit\, heart\, and humor\, Timmerman reminds us that healing the Earth isn’t just possible\, it’s already happening\, and we can all be part of it. \n  \nBooks will be available for purchase and signing. Light refreshments will be served.

SUMMARY:District 6 Budget Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:Right in the middle of our long\, hot summers\, City Hall observes an extra season: budget season. The Council Members\, the Mayor\, their staff\, and civil servants hunker down in the air conditioning with their spreadsheets\, figuring out how to squeeze the most community benefit from local funds\, state and federal dollars\, and outside grants. \nWith the State of Texas restricting how local governments can raise and allocate funds\, and the Trump Administration rescinding grants that had already been awarded to Austin\, the road to next year’s budget may be a bumpy one. \nHow do you think our city should use the funds we have? Come to one of the D6 budget town halls\, learn about the budgeting process\, and share your thoughts. Light refreshments will be served; registration is not required but will help us know how much food to buy! \n\nNot sure which City Council district you live in? You can look it up here.

SUMMARY:Austin’s Archives & You: Preserving City & Community Histories
DESCRIPTION:The Austin History Center needs your input! We invite you to join us at the Twin Oaks Branch Library on July 24th to learn about our work and the Austin’s Archives & You survey. There will be activities so that you can help us decide the direction of our programs\, exhibits\, and spaces. Complete our survey and receive a free coffee mug or a historic map! \nWe will offer light refreshments.  \nAustin Archives and You: Preserving City & Community Histories\nThis year we are celebrating the Austin History Center’s re-opening in the John Henry Faulk Building located at 800 Guadalupe St. as well as the 25 year anniversary of our Community Archives Program. In honor of these milestones\, we are rolling out the Austin Archives & You: Preserving City & Community Histories community engagement campaign. This summer we are conducting public meetings\, workshops\, attending tabling events\, and collecting surveys to help shape the future of our programs\, exhibits\, and spaces. Our work is rooted in community and we’d love to hear your opinions and do what we can to meet your needs! \nAt the end of this community engagement campaign\, we will share out the results of our efforts in a celebratory event held at our new space in the John Henry Faulk Building. Although it will take time\, our goal is to implement changes to our programs\, exhibits\, and spaces based on feedback received at our workshops and from survey results beginning in Fiscal Year 2026.
