SUMMARY:TreeMail Volunteer Night
DESCRIPTION:No dirt\, no sweat—just stamps\, snacks\, and helping trees grow! \nJoin TreeFolks on Tuesday\, August 19th\, from 6–8 PM for an indoor\, hands-on volunteer event where you can help kick off the next season of the Central Texas Floodplain Reforestation Program in the comfort of air conditioning. We’ll have snacks\, good tunes\, and all the supplies ready. Just bring your helping hands and your best penmanship! You can RSVP here. \nIf you have any questions or concerns\, please contact Marina: marina@treefolks.org

SUMMARY:Austin Pride Festival & Parade
DESCRIPTION:Pride has always been a protest. This year\, we’re making sure they remember. \nIn 2025\, our voices are more vital than ever. Silence = Death isn’t just history—it’s a warning. Attacks on our rights\, our stories\, and our very existence are escalating. But we’ve been here before. And just like those who came before us\, we won’t be erased. On August 23 at Fiesta Gardens\, we take to the streets—not just to celebrate\, but to demand\, to resist\, and to fight for our future. Because Pride isn’t just a parade. It’s power. It’s protest. It’s survival. \nJoin us. Speak up. Fight back. \nINFO: austinpride.org/pride-2025 \n\n*******Fashionably Late? FESTIVAL TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE SATURDAY AT THE FESTIVAL GATES – $20; $10 ages 7-17; 6 & under free \n************PRIDE FESTIVAL DETAILS: Fiesta Gardens\, 2101 Jesse Segovia St. 11:00am – 6:00pm \n\n*****all acts subject to change without notice***** \nThe Parade is FREE and open to the public . It kicks off at the Texas State Capitol Building and marches down Congress Ave.and ending on the Ann Richards Bridge. \nThe parade begins promptly at 8:00 PM at the Texas State Capitol\, lighting up Congress Avenue with vibrant floats\, marching groups\, and community spirit. The 1.3‑1.5 mile nighttime procession rides south\, culminating on the Congress Avenue Bridge—all illuminated under the night sky. Viewing is free and open to the public. \nFormed in 2010\, The Austin Pride Foundation (APF) is a 100% volunteer-run 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to managing and organizing Austin’s annual PRIDE celebration and Stonewall Tribute. For more information on this and other Austin PRIDE Week events visit www.austinpride.org. \nFestival Vendor and Parade Registration is now OPEN. To register\, visit: www.austinpride.org \nAustin’s Annual PRIDE celebration is one of the largest opportunities for local non-profit organizations\, social groups\, and causes to gain exposure in the LGBTQ community. Each year\, dozens of these groups use the Festival as a platform to inform and interact with the thousands of attendees. Countless people find new organizations to join\, causes to support\, and opportunities to volunteer at PRIDE events. Furthermore\, we are proud to know that the Austin PRIDE Festival is Central Texas’ single largest HIV testing day of the year enabling several local HIV-related service organizations to reach populations they may otherwise not reach!

The plan also lays the groundwork to make the updated transit system a reality. Together\, we will identify what changes need to be made\, step by step\, and what resources are needed to achieve the plan’s goals. \nJoin us for our virtual open house to learn more about our proposed draft scenarios\, talk to the project team\, and leave your feedback!

SUMMARY:Transit Plan 2035 In-Person Open House
DESCRIPTION:Transit Plan 2035 is CapMetro’s blueprint for the future of public transportation in Central Texas. \nOur plan includes a comprehensive evaluation of our transit system and changes to how people are traveling in the Central Texas region. The final plan will outline strategies to update transit services\, upgrade infrastructure and better meet your needs over the next five to ten years. \nA well-designed transit plan provides an updated transit system that connects people to jobs\, education\, and places they enjoy. The plan also lays the groundwork to make the updated transit system a reality. Together\, we will identify what changes need to be made\, step by step\, and what resources are needed to achieve the plan’s goals. \nJoin us for our open house to learn more about our proposed draft scenarios\, talk to the project team\, and leave your feedback!

SUMMARY:September 2025 Fix-It Clinic
DESCRIPTION:Got a broken item like a torn shirt\, faulty blender or worn-out toy? Bring them to a Fix-It Clinic and learn hands-on repair skills with help from our expert volunteers—free of charge! \nGet your free ticket here. \nNew policy: We will no longer work on computers\, cell phones\, or tablets at the Fix-It Clinic. These projects often require extensive troubleshooting and take up a lot of our volunteers’ time. Instead\, we encourage you to subscribe to the Fix-It Austin newsletter to receive announcements of upcoming workshops focused on electronics repair\, consult the Austin Reuse Directory to find a professional repair shop\, and/or look for a repair guide on the IFixIt website. \nHow it works: Bring up to two items (excluding computers\, cellphones\, and tablets) and work with our coaches to learn how to fix them. Tools will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own. If you know your item needs a replacement part\, please bring it with you. While we can’t guarantee every item will be repaired\, you’ll learn how it works and what you may need to fix it. Note that our electronics/miscellaneous category is the most popular and sometimes there is a wait to work with a volunteer. \nDrop-off option: Can’t attend in person? Drop off your item at the Conley-Guerrero Senior Activity Center (808 Nile St.)\, September 5-11. We’ll try to fix it\, and you can pick it up September 15-20. Items not claimed by September 20 will be donated. Space is limited\, and a waiver is required.
