Their mission-driven eclectic sound and anthemic lyrics celebrate unity\, empowerment\, inclusion and a love of community.\n4 p.m. – Patricia Vonne: A Tex –Mex spitfire with a rock n roll heart who plays a border crossing\, bilingual mix of flamenco and Mexican influences with all American rock n roll.\n \nLatinapalooza is Austin’s premiere Latina/Hispanic music showcase that connects culture and community. This community show is a collaboration between the artists sponsored by City of Austin Cultural Arts Division and Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center.\n \n\nAlmost unconsciously\, Austin’s Eastside is this city’s heart center. Even with updated facades and a new crop of residents\, its cultural origin magnetizes new arrivals and tourists and is still home to so many who defined its history. Celebrating that history and energy are some of Austin’s most talented and beloved Latina musicians at this free\, family-friendly\, outdoor event.\n \n\nLatinapalooza was founded by singer/songwriter\, actress and entrepreneur Patricia Vonne\, and it has been an official SXSW showcase for the past three years. In addition to being part of SXSW\, this event is now a free showcase offered in May celebrating Latin music and culture with an all female Latina lineup performing everything from mariachi\, pop\, Tejano to flamenco roots rock.\n \n\n“There’s a sisterhood of musicians in Austin that have put the city on an international map\, but also spotlights Austin’s specific cultural heritage. I’m excited as ever to perform with and for familia\,” said Patricia Vonne.

SUMMARY:CRT LatinX COVID-19 Study - Town Hall
DESCRIPTION:The LatinX/Hispanic community in Austin has been disproportionately affected by the pandemic of COVID-19. Many have lost their jobs\, reliable sources of income\, faced housing and food insecurities\, and are battling mental health issues. What is even more the Latinx/Hispanic community is facing higher hospitalization rates\, vaccination shortages\, and higher mortality rates. \nThe Community Resilience Trust COVID-19 LatinX Study was launched in May of 2020 to explore these issues and provide actionable steps from the community to our leaders. This report has been presented to our elected officials\, and now we are inviting the community to join us for a conversation with our elected officials on how we must move forward to remedy this issue. \nWe will also be hearing from community leaders\, grassroots organizations\, and researchers who covered a lot of ground to make this study possible. This is your opportunity to lend your voice for change in our city and advocate for the wellbeing of our LatinX/Hispanic community members. \nThe event will begin at 6 pm and wrap up at 8 pm. It will be a virtual event\, and there is no cost to attend\, you simply need to register at this link.
