SUMMARY:Why the 2026 Midterms Are the Most Important Climate Action Opportunity of the Decade
DESCRIPTION:* Part of ATX Climate Week *  \nWhile landmark legislation like the Inflation Reduction Act sparked a clean energy boom\, these gains are now under threat from regulatory rollbacks and economic instability. The 2026 midterms represent a critical “climate moment\,” where the focus must shift from policy development to protecting the democratic institutions that enable climate progress. As businesses face increasing volatility\, the need for stable\, accountable governance has never been more urgent. \nIn this session\, the American Sustainable Business Network (ASBN) will explore why the 2026 midterms are a pivotal opportunity for climate action. ASBN is mobilizing business leaders to elevate the role of the business community as advocates for stability\, innovation\, and responsible governance\, centered on three key pillars: Affordability\, Security\, and Business Opportunity. \nRather than focusing on narrow policy debates\, this effort brings together business and community leaders to demonstrate how strong democratic institutions and stable policy frameworks drive economic growth and climate progress. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the stakes and be invited to join a growing coalition working to secure the conditions necessary for meaningful climate action in the years ahead.

SUMMARY:Texas Nature and Clean Energy Summit
DESCRIPTION:Texas is growing fast\, and our land and wildlife are feeling the strain. Pollution and decades of energy development have left lasting marks on prairies\, rivers\, and coastal habitats. Clean\, renewable energy is essential to powering Texas’ future without repeating those harms. But how we build it matters. The choices we make now will shape the Texas landscape and its wildlife for generations. \nThe Nature and Clean Energy Summit will bring together conservation leaders and clean energy practitioners to examine how we protect land\, air\, water and wildlife while meeting growing energy needs. The Summit will highlight practical examples of impact mitigation\, policy ideas to promote renewables while protecting nature\, and address a growing challenge: proposals for moratoriums and restrictive policies that would halt renewable energy development rather than improve it \nYou can register here. \nGuest Speakers:\nAndy Sansom\, former Executive Director\, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department\nDr. Michael Webber\, Professor and Clean Energy Technology Expert\, UT Austin\nJudd Messer\, Vice President\, Advanced Power Alliance\nStacy Ortego\, Gulf of Mexico Campaign Manager\, National Wildlife Federation

SUMMARY:The Big We: A Creative Convening
DESCRIPTION:Austin’s creative community has experienced a perfect storm of reductions or delays in Federal\, State\, and City funding; a lack of performance\, rehearsal\, and studio space; and little civic infrastructure to provide a safety net for artists\, performers\, and arts organizations when hard times fall. More than a few arts spaces and institutions have closed\, some as old as 35 years\, while arts organizations “hunker down” into silos\, to keep producing their work on less while protecting what little they have. \nAfter years of increasingly hard times\, a group of ten Austin arts leaders from all genres began gathering informally to discuss how to manifest a more cohesive community among creatives. They asked\, “How can we work together on a purpose greater than our differences?” “How can we create a meeting space that is expansive enough to encompass divergent opinions but focus on solutions that we create for ourselves?” The Creative Congress was born. \nWith the facilitation and sponsorship of A3 Art Alliance Austin\, (a newly formed Local Arts Agency) they developed a plan to host a city-wide convening of artists\, musicians\, performers and others in the creative community to develop a more cohesive artistic community for the purposes of networking resources\, opportunities\, spaces and expertise; for creating solutions to our creative community’s issues through collaboration; and to gather plans\, collaborative groups and leaders to create a self-defining Community Arts Plan. \nWHO IS INVITED \nALL Austin-area artists\, musicians\, performers of all types\, writers\, electronic media artists\, arts administrators\, curators\, technicians\, board members\, and philanthropists. \nGOAL \nFostering collaboration between different sectors of Austin’s creative community\, the convening will emphasize the importance of purposeful cross-pollination across art forms\, networks\, and cultural arts organizations to chart a self-defined course for our creative community. \n  \nITINERARY \nFriday\, March 27 \n12:00pm THE BIG WE Convening Box Luncheon featuring “flash” keynote speakers from the creative community\, each of whom has done something extraordinary to change the status quo \n1:15pm Training sessions with Shana Merlin on “Open Space Technology” and Karen LaShelle\, Executive Director of Austin Together on “The Art of Collaboration” \n2:30pm Break \n3:00pm Open Space Technology: “Pitch Sessions” \n3:30pm-4:30pm Community Discussions – Session I \n4:30pm-5:30pm Wrap-up Session \n5:30pm Break \n6:00pm Networking Mixer with dinner\, music\, beverages \n8:00pm The Big We video + 3 more “flash” keynote speakers.
