DESCRIPTION:Amarillo | Austin | Dallas-Ft Worth | El Paso | Houston | Lower Rio Grande Valley | San Antonio \nJoin Texas Parks and Wildlife\, Texas Master Naturalists\, the Audubon Society\, The Nature Conservancy\, and many others in a fun challenge to see which city can document the most species during April 24 – 27. It is easy to participate by joining an event or making observations on your own using iNaturalist. With the iNaturalist app or website\, you just upload a picture of or sound from a plant or animal\, and the community will help identify which species it is. Any observation in the greater metropolitan areas of Amarillo\, Austin\, DFW\, El Paso\, Houston\, LRGV\, and San Antonio will count during the four day challenge. You can participate by exploring the life in your backyard or in your local park. \nCheck out the City Nature Challenge 2020 project for your location in iNaturalist at https://www.inaturalist.org/projects/texas-city-nature-challenge-2020-cities and join in on the fun. \nMore than 150 cities worldwide are asking residents of and visitors to these urban areas to explore nature all around them and document the species they find – see the full list of cities here: http://citynaturechallenge.org/. SUMMARY:Kid's Jewelry Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Using a variety of reuse materials and lots of creativity\, participants will have the opportunity to learn about jewelry-making. You’ll work with and try out different tools to make multiple pendants and at least one pair of earrings! There may even be time left at the end to make additional jewelry pieces.\n\n \nWe’ll provide materials to make a piece of jewelry out of metal\, to turn everyday objects into a piece of jewelry\, create a piece of jewelry inspired by another culture\, and to make a sparkly gift.\n\n \nAs an added bonus – once you’ve made the four different pieces of jewelry\, you will have finished the requirements to earn the Girl Scout Junior Jeweler badge!\n\n \nParticipants do not need to be scouts to participate.\n \nThis class is geared towards 4th and 5th graders. However\, kids 8-13 are invited and welcome to attend!\n\n \nAbout the instructor:\nKaren Miller is an engineer and artist who works primarily with reuse materials in collage\, assemblage and mosaic. She is also a long-time scout leader. Combining her love of working with scouts and reuse materials\, Karen has developed several arts and crafts workshops for young people that focus on safely learning how to use specific tools while reusing cool materials to create masterpieces.

DESCRIPTION:Using the technique of Henri Matisse\, cut and paste your way to a masterpiece!\n\n \nAbout this event\nA children’s “Make n’ Take\,” this workshop will guide each artist to cut and paste painted papers\, creating a design in the same manner used by Henri Matisse. He is famous for enormous paper cutouts; yours will be medium-sized and framed by you before you leave.\n\n \nThis workshop is appropriate for those 7 years old and up accompanied by a ticketed adult. Unaccompanied adults welcome!\nNote: This is an outdoor workshop\, please dress accordingly. If it is too cold or rainy we will spread apart inside the store.\n\n \nMasks required.\n\n \nAbout the Artist\nJane Wells graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art.
