SUMMARY:Community Engagement for Artists: Building Roots\, Not Just Reach
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to create sustainable community connections through story\, reciprocity\, and localized relationship-building. \n\n\n\n\nBuilding Roots\, Not Just Reach is a practical workshop on building deep\, loyal audience relationships through intentional community engagement without relying on constant social media output. This session teaches artists how to create true cultural value through story\, reciprocity\, and localized relationship-building. \nThis workshop is designed for arts professionals of any medium—performers\, visual artists\, filmmakers\, designers\, teaching artists\, literary artists\, culture organizers\, and nonprofit creatives—who seek more sustainable ways to build audiences\, collaborations\, students\, donors\, or buyers. Get your free ticket here. \nPresented by Morgan Teel \nMorgan Teel is a choreographer and founder of Dance Waterloo\, a nonprofit that expands access to contemporary dance through community-rooted performances and education in spaces ranging from public parks to cultural venues like the Dougherty Arts Center. Her work prioritizes clarity\, curiosity\, and relationship-building\, inviting audiences to feel connected to dance without needing prior knowledge or permission to participate. \nAlongside her artistic work\, she designs corporate community engagement programs that build meaningful relationships between employees and the local organizations supporting Austin’s cultural and social needs. As a Certified Enneagram Coach specializing in time management for creatives\, she helps artists protect their energy and build sustainable practices that support long-term growth. Morgan serves on the Keep Austin Beautiful Corporate Advisory Council\, reflecting her belief that strong artistic ecosystems are built through intentional care for both community and place. www.morgen-teel.com

SUMMARY:Fix-It Clinic: Carver Branch Library
DESCRIPTION:Attend the Fix-It Clinic where skilled volunteers will teach you how to fix your broken household items. RSVP for a time slot here. \n\n\n\nGot a broken item like a torn shirt\, faulty blender or worn-out toy? Bring them to a Fix-It Clinic and learn hands-on repair skills with help from our expert volunteers—free of charge! \nPlease note: We do not work on computers\, cell phones\, or tablets at the Fix-It Clinic. These projects often require extensive troubleshooting and take up a lot of our volunteers’ time. Instead\, we encourage you to subscribe to the Fix-It Austin newsletter to receive announcements of upcoming workshops focused on electronics repair\, consult the Austin Reuse Directory to find a professional repair shop\, and/or look for a repair guide on the IFixIt website. \nHow it works: Bring up to two items (excluding computers\, cellphones\, and tablets) and work with our coaches to learn how to fix them. Tools will be provided\, but feel free to bring your own. If you know your item needs a replacement part\, please bring it with you. While we can’t guarantee every item will be repaired\, you’ll learn how it works and what you may need to fix it. Note that our electronics/miscellaneous category is the most popular and sometimes there is a wait to work with a volunteer. \nDrop-off option: Can’t attend in person? Drop off your item at the Carver Library Branch (1161 Angelina St)\, April 24-30. We’ll try to fix it\, and you can pick it up May 4-9. Items not claimed by May 9 will be donated. Space is limited\, and a waiver is required.
