Colleen is an ISA Certified Arborist and fruit tree expert with over 20 years of professional experience as a gardener and landscaper in Central Texas\, specializing in native plant maintenance. She is a top gardening educator and mentor\, having taught hundreds of workshops and classes. As the host of the ATX Gardens podcast\, she reminds listeners of what to do right now in their gardens and landscapes. She prevents the extinction of plants important to Central Texans through her leadership as the founder of Central Texas Seed Savers\, a project of Fruitful Commons. SUMMARY:BIPOC Bird Walk With Travis Audubon
DESCRIPTION:Join Mohammad Tohidiar and TTC Environmental Programs Manager Jonatan Salinas to find birds on the Northeast end of the Butler Trail at the Unity Underpass and Wishbone Bridge. Recently planted native trees\, shrubs\, wildflowers\, and natural spring water provide excellent habitats for a variety of bird species. As TTC restores this section of the Butler Trail\, there will be a change in birds! \nTravis Audubon’s BIPOC Bird Walks intentionally welcome Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Color to build community and connection through enjoying birds and birding. These walks are intended to be safe\, welcoming\, and affirming spaces where BIPOC individuals can enjoy the beauty of birding and nature together. \nWe invite anyone who identifies as BIPOC and who supports our values of diversity\, equity\, inclusion\, and access to join us. Friends\, family\, and allies are welcome to attend as space allows. \nBird walks are: \n\n1-2 miles long\, completed in around 2 hours\nBeginner-friendly (all levels are welcome)\nOn mostly flat terrain (dissolved gravel trail and sidewalks)\nWe have binoculars to lend to anyone who doesn’t have a pair\n\nBird walks are always free\, but registration is required and is limited to 20 participants. A reminder email with details will be sent before the bird walk date.
