SUMMARY:Kicking the Bucket Listening Club
DESCRIPTION:It’s not about dying. It’s about living. \nIn an emergency\, who do you want making medical decisions for you? Your people… or the state? The Kicking the Bucket Listening Club is a free 8-week community gathering designed to make conversations about death less taboo and empower you to make your own choices. Join your neighbors to listen\, laugh\, and talk about the stuff most of us avoid. You’ll leave knowing where the end-of-life conversation has to start. \nA BOOK CLUB FOR YOUR EARS\nKicking the Bucket is a darkly funny audio dramedy about two ride-or-die octogenarians determined to exit life on their own terms. Each week\, we listen to one episode of the ongoing story together. No prep required. \nCRAFT WHILE YOU CONVERSE\nWant to keep your hands busy while you listen? Learn a simple basket-weaving technique from Melissa Knight of Batik by Design. Materials provided. Arrive early for extra guidance. \nDIGGING DEEP\nDiscussion facilitated by Occupational Therapists and end-of-life practitioners Michelle McCarty and Melissa Saffron of Reinventing Independence. Expect thoughtful conversation\, practical tools\, and follow-up resources each week. \n📅 Mondays thru May 18 | 6–7:30pm\n📍 Hampton Branch\, Austin Public Library | 5125 Convict Hill Rd\, Austin TX 78749\n🎟️ Free! SUMMARY:Overheard On A Train
DESCRIPTION:So let’s say you’re on public transit\, eavesdropping on a group’s conversation. (No shame—we do it\, too.) \nYou ever wonder what it would be like to live that life? To dip into their daily drama? Now’s your chance! \nJoin us for Overheard on a Train\, and see what it’s like to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. \nExcept\, you’re not walking—because you’re on a train. \nAnd also—it’s longer than a mile. \nAnd also—you wear your own shoes. \nYou can book your ticket here.  \nOverheard on a Train is an interactive experience that takes place on board Austin’s metro-rail. You and three friends will sign up as a group\, and receive a script when you board the train. During the journey\, your foursome will read the script to each other\, out loud. (It’s a “table read\,” and you are the actors!) Your collective story will unfold as you turn each page and deliver each line. Choose which storyline your group likes best\, such as THE BAND\, or THE BACHELORETTE PARTY\, or THE BANK ROBBERS—and we’re now offering THE MIDDLE SCHOOLERS\, for kids and families!
