DESCRIPTION:Join us for The Art of Cultural Preservation: “The Bead and Me” celebrating the culture of the Black Masking Indians of New Orleans\n\n\n\nPlease join us November 6\, 2025 from 6:30 – 9:00 p.m. for Create and Heal: The Art of Cultural Preservation\, “The Bead and Me”. For this Create & Heal we will be celebrating the culture of the Black Masking Indians of New Orleans with particular focus on their beading artwork as experienced by Sylvia Stinson (opening welcome and ‘mood-setting’ by Imani Aanu). \nParticipants will learn about various aspects of the history and culture of the Black Masking Indians of New Orleans and have the opportunity to create their own personalized beaded artwork. Throughout the crafting experience\, some of Dr. King’s most acclaimed speeches will be streamed in the lobby\, allowing participants to reflect\, create\, and engage with his powerful words. \nEvening Film Screening: Boyd Vance Theater\n6:00 p.m. – King in the Wilderness (Not Rated) \nFollowing the screening\, guests are invited to enjoy cake and punch. \nJanuary 16 \nCarver Celebrates King: Celebrating the life Of Dr. Martin Luther King \nMeet a Local Civil Rights Icon:\n11:35 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.- L.C Anderson Exhibit \nMr. Alexander Porter shares his experiences as one of the nation’s first Black FBI agents\, including his work under J.
