DESCRIPTION:Improve your child’s cycling skills on a free\, closed course of 1000 ft of grassy parkland at Kids on Bikes in Parks! Perfect for children ages 5-15\, Kids on Bikes in Parks is open to all cycling skill levels and offers open track time with experienced cyclists. At the top of every hour\, we will have timed laps for kids to test themselves and track their progress! \nRegister here. \nSuggested Times by Experience Level \n\n8 AM: Beginners Wave – This wave is suggested for beginner riders\, those who may still be working on the basic skills of riding a bike. Please note\, we strongly recommend removing training wheels before this event.\n9 AM: Intermediate I Wave – This wave is suggested for intermediate riders\, those who know how to ride but are still working on confidence and cornering abilities.\n10 AM: Intermediate II & Advanced Wave – This wave is suggested for more advanced riders\, those who know how to ride and are looking for opportunities to hone their skills in cornering abilities or in clearing advanced obstacles.\n\nPlease note these waves are not restrictive. Riders of all levels are welcome to start at any time during the event and stay as long as they want. \nNeed a Bike? \nWe will have a fleet of bikes provided by WOOM Bikes on hand for any child wishing to try one or without a bike of their own to ride the course. All participants are eligible to receive some giveaways from Mellow Johnny’s Bike Shop and Trek Bikes. \nParents/guardians must remain on-site but can enjoy some cold beverages while supervising their children on the course. Please note: Helmets are required at all times when on a bike.

Austin residents and Austin Energy customers can take home a free five-gallon tree to plant and care for. \nWe’ll be at the George Morales Dove Springs Recreation Center on Saturday\, October 3. Stop by anytime during the event; no registration is needed. \nTo help more neighbors take home a tree\, people within the Austin Full Purpose Jurisdiction and Austin Energy Customers may adopt up to two trees per household each season. Trees are available on a first-come\, first-served basis. If you live outside of our service area\, you’re welcome to adopt one tree per household each season. \nBefore choosing your tree\, please review our Right Tree\, Right Place guide to make sure you have enough space for your tree to grow. \nThank you for planting and caring for a tree! Your tree can provide future shade\, wildlife habitat\, and other benefits for our Central Texas communities. \nThe TreeFolks NeighborWoods program is a partnership with the City of Austin and Austin Energy.

Join us on Saturday\, October 3\, 2026 from 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM as local activists\, organizations and professionals discuss the impact of the Nolan Wells case and its similarities to the Emmet Till Case and examine methods to counteract racism in today’s social climate. \nCommunity is invited to join the discussion\, talk to professionals from Austin Public Health and other mental health and wellness organizations\, learn about free law school programs\, and enjoy light refreshments in community. \nThis season\, we’ve also expanded the Create & Heal experience to include a pop-up farmer’s market proudly presented in partnership with 10\,000 Fearless First Responders. Together\, we’ll stay nourished\, practice cooperative economics\, and food justice.

Make sure to RSVP to this awesome event! You’ll meet some amazing people and bring home some new plant babies! \n PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY. \n What to bring? \n-Healthy plants! Starters\, cuttings\, houseplants\, succulents\, bulbs\, trees\, shrubs\, orchids\, etc. as long as you’re ready to part with them. \n-Clearly labeled plants. (Common name\, botanical name\, care instructions\, etc.) There will be a post on the event page that you can print out and attach to your plants or use as a reference so you can write everything down. \n-Plants in soil\, water or carefully wrapped. \n CHECK YOUR PLANTS FOR MEALY BUGS\, SPIDER MITES\, THRIPS\, ETC!
