Over a quarter of a century ago, Gary Zuker, a senior systems administrator at the University of Texas, embarked upon an incredible adventure to design and build a weekend/future retirement cottage. Having no prior design and building experience, he conducted extensive research. Gary drew extensively from Christopher Alexander’s seminal book, A Pattern Language. During construction of his cottage, Gary discovered many patterns not included in the book, so he created his own addendum.
Join Design~Build~Live and Gary for his presentation on how he used A Pattern Language in the creation of his fabulously beautiful light-clay cottage and the twelve new patterns he developed. Visit Gary’s webpage for a preview of the addendum: www.placepatterns.org/place/the-zuker-house/
