Digest 3/18: Smart Economics, Frozen Planet, Obama vs. Oil, Playing Drums w/ Springsteen

First things first: yes I did and yes, it was great. As the newest member of Alejandro Escovedo's Sensitive Boys, I was also fortunate to open for The Boss Thursday night … we learned volumes. See my brief about the first experience here: playing drums with Springsteen. And, regarding environmentalism:

Using Smart Economics
At just 32 years of age, eco-economist Gernot Wagner has degrees from Harvard and Stanford, a teaching gig at Columbia, a full time job at EDF, and a new book out, "But Will the Planet Notice?" Wagner contends that without significant structural changes in our economy we'll lose the battle to save the world. He's got examples of what works and what doesn't. See a short video here illuminating some of he's talking about.

Loving Our Frozen Planet
Another highlight of the week — my sister's excitement over a new series on the Discovery Channel, which takes viewers to either end of the earth. From the makers of "Earth." See my brief here.

Obama vs. Oil Subsidies
Say what you will, but Barack Obama has declared it's time to end subsidization of America's wealthiest energy sector three times in the last six weeks: at his State of the Union Address, during a recent campaign speech, and yesterday as the centerpiece of his weekly video address. My research suggests they don't need the money. See my blog here.

See last week's Digest.
