Student Services Coordinator
The Natural Epicurean Academy of Culinary Arts trains culinary professionals in the theory and practice of variety of plant-based cooking styles including macrobiotic, ayurvedic, vegetarian, vegan and raw & living foods. We emphasize the preparation of locally-available, seasonal natural foods to delight the senses and promote good health. We position culinary professionals to be meaningful contributors to the vital transformation of our healthcare and food industries. Our culinary students emerge from the Natural Epicurean with the foundational knowledge and practical skills to uphold high standards for food quality and cookery and to help solve the practical problems that are at the heart of our society’s healthcare crisis.
We are currently accepting applications for the position of Student Services Coordinator
About the Position:
Student Services Coordinators are responsible for supporting Natural Epicurean students throughout their education by orienting them to campus, upholding a culture of achievement, providing academic counseling and career coaching, coordinating certain campus events, classes, and extracurricular activities, and overseeing their externship experience. Integral to this is the ability to foster industry relationships with professionals and institutions in the culinary and health sectors. The ideal candidates for the Student Services Coordinator role possess a passion for transforming the food industry, a commitment to community building, and experience in culinary education.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure positive educational experiences for 60-80 professional culinary students on a daily basis; provide weekly report of student wellbeing at campus leadership meetings
- Uphold and ensure students abide by campus expectations
- Provide academic counseling and career coaching students throughout the course of their culinary training; Connect students and alumni with professional opportunities
- Head the capstone committee and oversee student progress on capstone projects
- Maintain relationships with business owners of current externship sites and cultivate new relationships
- Coordinate certain campus events, classes, and extracurricular activities
- Manage and document campus logistics; administrative duties include managing the student calendar, keeping accurate records of student correspondences, overseeing student message forum, and monitoring and proper filing each student’s non-coursework graduation requirements to maintain regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with the Director of Student Experience toward the continual improvement of organizational systems and community relations
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Required; Master’s degree preferred
- Professional food, health and/or culinary affiliation and/or education as well as a demonstrated commitment to the health-supportive, plant-based food movement
- Strong cooking and technical skills, including computer skills (MS office, accounting software)
- Minimum of 3 years education or food related experience
- Previous teaching and/or educational management experience preferred
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communications skills,
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and flexible environment
- Ability to work various shifts including some evenings and weekends
- Excellent time management skills and organizational skills
- Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication skills
- Energy, creativity, initiative and entrepreneurial zeal
- Resilience, resourcefulness and enthusiasm
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with relevant experience. Full benefits include health care, 15 days of vacation per year, and professional development opportunities.
